David practices in the areas of corporate and commercial law, real estate and estate
planning & administration. His corporate practice has a particular emphasis
on company acquisitions and dispositions, reorganizations, shareholder agreements,
limited liability partnerships and joint ventures. He advises foreign clients
on establishing or acquiring businesses in Ontario, and acts on behalf of several
large institutional lenders in secured transactions. He has often been responsible
for managing the legal aspects of complex transactions involving multiple parties
and many levels of professional advisors. David is certified by the Law Society of Upper Canada as a Specialist in Corporate and Commercial Law.
In practice for over 30 years in Barrie, a significant portion of Dave’s practice
involves advising clients on estate planning matters, including the creation of
trusts and charitable foundations.
Dave has been, and continues to be, involved in community affairs, having served
as the President of the Barrie Downtown Improvement Board, and as a director of
the Barrie YMCA and United Appeal. He currently sits on the Board of Trustees
at Collier Street United Church and is an active member of the Rotary Club of Barrie-Huronia.
Dave is an avid golfer and skier and immensely enjoys spending time with his wife and sons at the family cottage.
